change of Kanton and old ID

I have recently just moved to Kanton Zürich and received my new B-permit. Do I return my old B-permit to my previous canton, or do I just destroy it? A standard Rechtsbelehrung über B-Bewiligungen letter accompanied by new B-permit, but I must admit that my German is not good enough to understand what is written in it.
Thank you!

When we changed Canton I think we just handed it in on the new one, but if it's not convenient, just put it in the post to the old one. All the official cancelling of it should have been done as part of the move, so you don't need to do anything else on that score.

Re: change of Kanton and old ID

You must go and cancel it at the old commune office and it'll then have a canceled stamp on it.

You then give the thing to the new commune.

You will waste your time at the new commune if you have not canceled at the old one.

Re: change of Kanton and old ID

When you guys say 'cancel', is that the same thing as deregistering or do I need to do something? I have already deregistered from my old kanton.

Maybe, if this actually happened to you, its Kanton-specific. I know that when we moved from BS to OW we did all the paperwork from the OW end, didn't actually have to do anything in BS at all. Presumably among that somewhere was the BS deregistration, and it may be that we had to send it to BS, but the OW people dealt with everything that we'd need in one place.

They will not register you unless you show your deregistration form. This is how it happened to me last month. moved from AG to BL.
