Visiting France and Italy with a Swiss Visa

Hi,

I'm hoping to visit Italy and France during this month. But what I have is a visa with multiple entries to Switzerland (till end of Sepetember).

So am I allowed to enter those two countries with this visa. If not what can I do ??

P.S : I'm from Sri Lanka.

What you have is a Schengen visa, look in your passport. You can visit any country in the Schengen area with no problem. ITaly and France included.

You should have a residence card for Switzerland, based on your other posts, right? If so, that's what matters for traveling within Schengen (though you should take your passport too) - and it's good until the permit expires.

I have applied for my residence permit. But I have not received it yet.

So this is the only thing I have.

I believe your visa is good for traveling around Schengen, as well. However, if you are concerned, contact the place where you applied for your residence permit.

Your question is answered here http://www.bfm.admin.ch/content/bfm/...4.html#a_faq_4

I have a Type D visa containing an entry saying "Suisse". Does this visa authorise me to travel around in the Schengen area?

On 5 April 2010, Type C and Type D visas were given parity of treatment as far as freedom to travel within the Schengen area for up to ninety days is concerned.
