Another L permit questions. HELP!

All, I have the following questions.

I am non-EU working under permanent contract, and in the end of year it is going to be 24 months for my L permit. What happens if I am fired/quit the job in the end of my permit?
Let's say I find new employer, will he has to go through the same procedure and I get L again for another 2 months?
I am correct that I will receive unepmloyment benefits in the first case?

I know in my case it is better to wait until my current employer makes B for me but the situation is not that easy.

Thanks a lot for all your responses.

If you are fired , you need to find a new employer SOON, who is ready to take your case (don't want to sound too disappointing but with L it's a bit difficult)
Although on this forum I have come across cases where people had L for 5 years , but they sound more like exceptions. Normal scenario is you cannot have L for more than 2 years. Either you leave , have a cool off period for 1 year or you get a B.
Regarding unemployment benefits, check with RAV. Different people, different contracts, different permits...different stories.

Re: Another L permit questions. HELP!

It won't matter if you wait for the B permit or not. As a non-EU, your B permit is tied to your job so a new employer will have to go through same the application procedure to get a B permit for you as your current boss has to, proving to the authorities that he can't find a Swiss/EU person who can do the job. Not many employers want to go to the time and expense to do this in the current economic climate.

And remember, if a new job is in a different canton you'd have to move house as well.

Not really. I believe that since 2008 you are allowed to live and work in different cantons.

I just got my permit approval from a different canton from which I live. The document acknowledges that i will stay in my current residence.

Are you a non-EU permit holder though?

Okay, good, the rules must have changed and I didn't pick it up. That'll be one less worry for him then.

All, thanks a lot for your responses.

My current employer is making application for B for me. So I keep my fingers crossed for B as soon as I get it for the first time I am saved

Regarding the move, that's true, I do not have to live where I work, I basically work and live in different cantons now.
