EEA Family Permit

Hi all, do you have to work in CH as a British Citizen to qualify for a EEA Family Permit for my South African husband to visit the UK, I have never worked and was issued this in Feb and just reapplied and has been refused, trying very hard to dispute this refusal just because I didn't work in CH The website is so confusing and contradicting, even the application form says that you only have fill in employment if you are employed in the UK??? Nothing aobut me the British Citizen having to work in CH, so so angry

Re: EEA Family Permit

EEA FP is for moving to live and work in UK, not for visit. He needs a UK Visit visa.

Re: EEA Family Permit

In that case you need to prove you have/are exercising a Treaty right by working, studying or being self-sufficient in CH. Self-sufficiency can be proof of your husbands employment and he will need also to provide proof of Health Insurance which is obligatory in CH anyway!

For further help Google 'Surinder Singh' which is an EU case that covers what you are trying to do and come back, see if it helps!

Re: EEA Family Permit

Hi thanks so much for the reply, I can prove that we are self suffiecient, that is why I have never worked in CH, just got to wait until tomorrow as the Immigration Officer who refused the EEA Family permit is back from leave and hopefully, will have some sympathy and help us, here is hoping, will keep you posted, just wish that there was a company that could help us with this problem, so so frustrating, but not giving up on this one!!!! thanks for your help

Re: EEA Family Permit

Sorry meant to mention that we had given them all the bank statements for 6 months as well as my husbands work contract, and we have private health insurance, so really have no idea why it was refused, just because i do not work!! Did not work in February when the first one was issued, aargh
