Permits

Hi I am Uk citizen and have just moved to Switzerland with my swiss partner of 12 years, we have been advised that for me to be legal here we need to either marry or i have to find work. I have been offered a part time job (pay is bad 1300 chf pm) would that be good enough to get me a visa to live here? Also how difficult is it to marry here in Switzerland?
Many Thanks for any help...

You basically just need to have your health insurance covered and prove that your partner is earning enough to keep you a live...

Yes you can stay here three months without a permit...

You will receive a B-Permit when you can prove that you won't cost the state any money (i.e. get your health insurance sorted AND that someone is supporting you). As you have a paid job, you will be contributing to the state kitty.

Btw, how did you get a job without a B-Permit and AVS number (yes you can start a job without these but should be in the process of obtaining these)?

Also, the B-Permit for an EU citizen is more a formality these days, but as said before make sure you get the health insurance sorted ASAP...

Re: Permits

I havent started the job, i have been offered it with contract etc to start December but she did ask for a AVS number , when i contacted my local goverment they said to just go down there with my contract and they would sort it all out.I have the health insurance sorted to start also from December.
All in all im completely confused lol
I dont really want to take the job as its manual work for bad money!!! but if its the only way i could be legal i would take it.
So as long as my partner works and i have health care they will give me a B permit without working?
Sorry for so many questions and thank you so much for all your help

Re: Permits

Sort of. Your partner needs to make enough to support both of you. If he also only makes 1300 per month, that's not going to work.

If I were you I'd take the job. Take the contract down to the commune and apply for your permit. Then you'll need to go to the AVS office and ask for an AVS number unless the commune is going to do this for you. You'll need to ask if you should apply for the AVS or if they will apply for you.
