Work Permit for B Permit Family Dependent

Hello,

I am a non-EU national who has a B permit as a family dependent, husband is on a C permit.

As I am currently taking German classes, I was not going to look for work for awhile. However, I am a freelance writer by trade and have considered doing work from home for clients in Australia.

I have read from EF posts that Family Dependent B permit holders have to apply for work permit separately. What are the steps in obtaining such work permit? I would like to know if anyone has had similar experiences here?

Thank you for your attention.

Re: Work Permit for B Permit Family Dependent

There are no other steps in terms of permit issues. Your B permit gives you permission to work.

The steps you need to take involve getting an AVS card/number (social charges) and getting approval by them to be a freelancer. I believe you also need to inform the commune that you are working. Then you'll need to make the appropriate payments to them. Your income is added to your family tax return.

I'd suggest you start with talking to your commune. They should be able to tell you what to do.

Re: Work Permit for B Permit Family Dependent

I meant you need to make AVS payment not payments to the commune.

Good luck.
