Swiss Citizenship

Hi everybody.

Today my friend and I had a long discussion on getting a Swiss Citizenship. However, we actually don't really understand about that therefore I am on here to ask for your wise advice on this issue.

The thing is, my friend married to a Swiss guy who has a child from his previous marriage, and the family had lived in Zurich (where they registered for their marriage and settled) for 2 years before they moved to Thailand for her husband business. It has been 5 years until now for her marriage and she wonders if she is now eligible for a Swiss Citizenship(???). They are now still in Thailand but would come back to Switzerland (Zurich) soon. They do not have common child and she can speak some German.

Does the time they lived in Thailand affect her progress of getting the citizenship? Du you have any suggestion or idea about this issue?

Many thanks.
Vich

Re: Swiss Citizenship

Here you go, all the rules for facilitated naturalization:
http://www.bj.admin.ch/content/bfm/e...uergerung.html

These are the articles that will probably be most helpful since she is married to a swiss citizen:

1. Article 27 Naturalization Act
The foreign spouse of a Swiss national who has lived in Switzerland for at least five years, has lived here for one year, and has lived in conjugal community with the Swiss spouse for three years.
2. Article 28 Naturalization Act
The foreign spouse of a Swiss national who has close links with Switzerland and has lived in conjugal community with the Swiss spouse for at least six years. An application is also possible if the person concerned is resident abroad.

After one more year, as you stated they have been married for only five years.
