L permit extension/B permit application

Apologies if this has been asked before. I am an EU citizen, and my 1st 6 month "L" permit runs out in March. I've started a job, which is temporary for 3 months then - unless I make an arse of it - will become payment.

It is sales related, so the base pay ain't great, but the monthly bonus I can get is decent.

Anyway, I know (or at least think I do) that you need to have a 12 month permanent contract before applying for a "B" permit becomes worth your while, so that's on the back burner for now.

In terms of getting a renewal of my "L" permit, is this still a common practice? Once I have my contract, is it just a case of popping into my local Kreisburo? I already have health insurance, a bank account, AHV number etc etc.

I live in Zurich, if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance

Re: L permit extension/B permit application

I have been here for over a year now. Contract for unlimited period. Still have the L even if I am EU citizen. I just renew it once a year and it takes me around 30min...so it's not that bad

And you do so at your local Kreisburo/whatever the Suisse Romande equivalent is?
