I left Switzerland in Mar 13. I had a B work permit.

My query is:
What is the cooling off period before getting a Student VISA for a course in St gallen university. The course starts in Sep 13.

Additionally, I came to know that I can not bring my dependent (wife) while being on student VISA. What is the best option for me to keep her with me as long as possible (in terms of visitor VISA/tourist VISA/any other option)?

There is no restrictions on reapplying, as far as i know, ie, a minimum time you have to spend abroad, if this is what you are asking.

Regarding your wife, I dont think you need the 'best' option, you need 'any' option. But if you say you were told it's not possible, I'm not sure what more we can offer. Maybe she registers as a student too?

Yes, this is exactly what I need to know.

If you start now and are already accepted on your UniSG course, it should be fine. Five months is ample time.

If you want your wife to come, you'd have to show how you'd support her or consider getting her on a language course or something - otherwise the restrictions on her stay are linked to the passport she holds and the entry rules associated with that.

Or she can get a job (as can you up to a limited amount of hours on the student permit) to support the family.

Are you prepared for the worst case scenario where your wife is limited in how much time she can be with you?

My dear friend, why you want to burn all your cash which you saved in last 6 years. If I am correct, you want to take up MBA form St. Gallen, its too much of money and then with family, you ned double !

Coming to your q, there is no restriction on permit. Just apply for a stubent visa with the admission conformation and you shoould get a B straight away.

Post studies, you get 6 months to find a job and if you do find one, you get a B work permit.
