Are the quotas EU-8 stated for B residence permits or B working permits?

Hello everybody,

I just got my B residencepermit as EU-8 valid till 2018. As looking for a job here, will there be anyrestrictions for quotas in case I get a work contract?

As I picked up my permittoday, I asked this question to the guy handling me over the documents whoanswered "No, No, No limitations, with a job contract you willautomatically get a work permit (L for contract shorter than one year, B forcontracts over one year)

Are the quotas EU-8 statedfor B residence permits or B working permits?

"EU-8 Member States(Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary). From 1 May 2012, category B residence permits granted to citizensof these countries will be subject to quotas."(http://www.bfm.admin.ch/content/bfm/en/home/themen/fza_schweiz-eu-efta.html)

Should I consider my Bresidence permit as B work permit anytime a potential employer asks?

Many thanks

A

What does it say on your permit? Does it say "sans activité luctrative" (which means you can't work) or "avec activité luctrative" (which means you can work).

I'm not an expert but I think there would be the first place to look...

thank you for your input. It is written "sans activite lucrative" But that is the reason what I asked the guy if I couldn work, he said yes, no problem, the status will change then if you bring a job contract. :-) Well, I guess I believe him but I just wanted to see if someone had the same procedure and experience, just to be sure.

Bilateral agreements with the EU mean he's right, it's a formality. An employer won't even ask about work permit once they know you're EU-8 - but will want a copy afterwards.

Thank you Sean. I am glad to hear it will be just a formality in case I get my first job contract and no obstacles and quotas will be in place.
