| | Re: Normal Naturalisation - applicant diary | Quote: | | | | | So, after three months of waiting, my status went from Vorprüfung to Prüfung Gemeinde. I am in Kanton Zurich but not Stadt Zurich, in a small Gemeinde that belongs to Horgen.
The Gemeinde is conducting written tests and until I receive all the infos from the Gemeinde I though about checking online. They point to the list of questions of Canton Zurich (https://www.zh.ch/de/migration-integ...ntnistest.html) and I was wondering if anyone knows about the nature of this written test. Are these questions indicative only, or are they the wide pool of questions, out of which they will randomly select 50?
Obviously, I know that they can later ask anything they want at the interview and for this reason, I have attended a course that gives all the info on the subject, but knowing that the written test will only include questions out of the given pool gives a bit more confidence that this stage is not so complicated to clear. | | | | | Hello,
thanks for the information. Are you notified by email/mail when the status changes?
Can you please tell us also how long it was "In Eröffnung" before going "in Vorprufung"? Mine is already two months in Eröffnung after I applied.
Thank you.

Thank you. | | | | | Yes, you get a very generic e-mail that says that the status changed, but it does not even refer to the naturalization process, it could be for anything as the sender is ZHservices.
It just says:
Topic: Kanton Zürich: Status aktualisiert
Guten Tag XXXX,
Der Status Ihres Geschäftsfalls hat sich verändert.
Freundliche Grüsse
Ihr Kanton Zürich
After submitting the application online, it took 2 months and 1 week until I received the notification that it changed to Vorprüfung. And then 3 months later it changed to Gemeinde Prüfung.
But I have not received anything from the Gemeinde yet, just the status change in my mailbox and the new status on the online platform.
After submitting my application online, it took about 2 weeks until I received by regular post from Cantonal Authorities that they have received my documents. Did you get it?

After I applied online I had to print a document ("Unterschriftenblatt") and send it. Before sending it, the next day of my online application, I received a document by post saying that they received my application. Then I sent the Unterschriftenblatt and still waiting.

Apologies if this has been posted before. This is a running tally of foreigner stats in Switzerland, available in French and German.
Click on the "naturalization" tab and you will see the statistics for the whole country as well as different cantons listing the number and origins of naturalized people. https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/de/home...v/2023/08.html | The following 2 users would like to thank LiquidPaper for this useful post: | |

On the other hand, megapixel, I suppose is not single, and this is the reason that had to sign the letter together with the spouse.
Could you please both confirm that my assumptions are correct?
As far as I know, this letter is shown to the applicant immediately after submitting the application, and it gives permission to the authorities to get access to the data of the tax office, etc. If you are single, giving them permission is already part of the application, so I suppose the signed document is necessary "mainly" to get the signature of the spouse and this is why it's not shown to applicants who are single.
The strange part though, for those who are not single and had access to this document under "Abschluss", is that once you log out, you cannot find this document anymore. This looks like a bug in the system.
In my case, I am single and I didn't see this document after submitting my application. However, friends of mine who are not single signed the document. All of us submitted the application in the City of Zurich and received the confirmation from the Gemeinde about receiving our application the next day, so the confirmation they send doesn't depend on whether they received the signed document or not.
Perhaps the best way to confirm if the document is really required is calling the Gemeinde, and if it's really required even from applicants who are single, I am wondering how we can sign the document given that it doesn't exist in the submission system.

The only thing that was missing was a form from my wife confirming that she is ok to include our child in the application. I talked to them, they said my wife needs to sign it within 2 months, she signed it the next working day, we sent it to them by e-mail and within a week my application was at the Gemeinde.

Hi all,
and thank you for the forum and the input here. It really helps a lot!
My diary so far says for Zurich city, EU nationality, no German test needed:
August 22 : Application
August 23 : Interview/Test*
October 23: Official Response and to pay 1200 CHF. Payed and waiting.**
and waiting for the next steps.
*Easy going discussion, test on a tablet. I studied with the booklet they sent me, and exercised a lot with the free app. It really made a difference. The questions were similar as on the app, but not exactly the same, on some the wording was a bit different. Try to reach 100% correctness on several dummy tests on the app.
Another point here was that the invitation for the interview came 20-30 days in advance, and I was lucky enough to be ZH, as I was planning to take long holidays. So, be careful with that. No communication in-between.
**I had switched jobs and there was a small delay of 2 weeks for the new job to sign the new work certificate. PS: Do it proactively.
Good luck people!
I will write an update in the future.

Hello,
No, I am single. So maybe they changed something the last few months. And yes, I received the confirmation by post before sending the signed document.
Thanks. | Quote: | | | | | DarkOrion, I suppose you are single (Ledig), and this is the reason that you didn't see the letter to sign after submitting your application.

My final timeline, ZH city.
Oct. 2021: Sent all the paperwork
Jan. 2023: Interview
Jan. 2023: Approval from the city + bill from city
May 2023: Kanton approval
May 2023: Kanton's bill and SEM bill
July 2023: Kanton confirms OK from SEM, warns process could still take up to 6 months
Oct 2023: Officially Swiss , precisely 3 months after the previous step. Mentions to wait 3 more weeks before ordering ID/pass.
It took a while, but that was definitely worth it!!!!!!!!

Dear All,
First of all I would like to thank the participants of the forum for all this precious information and insights concerning Swiss naturalisation, it is extremely helpful and inspiring. As to me, I have applied for naturalisation in Geneva canton in January 2022 (non EU citizen) and now it has been four months that I wait for the SEM approval. According to OCPM it takes presently from six to eight months.
I have read in previous posts that there will be an oath ceremony in December 2023. Does anyone from Geneva canton know when will the next one take place? I have not found any timetable on the official websites.
I would have another question. When I had my cantonal interview, the lady who interviewed me mentioned that my daughter who is ten will receive the passport before me as she does not have to take an oath. Does anyone had this experience before?
Thanks a lot in advance for your feedback!!

Thanks for this! I am at the final step and have been waiting 1 month and 1 week. Nice to know that I "might" only have another 2 months to wait to cross the finish line too!
Ps. Congratulations :-) | Quote: | | | | | My final timeline, ZH city.

As per my conversation with OCPM, I will be at the ceremony on the 7th of December (GE) and the invitation will be sent during November.

Thanks a lot for your reply, TFIGVA!
I have been still waiting for the SEM approval, 5 months soon, too optimistic to hope to participate in the ceremony of December 7th, I think...
Have you heard probably which date the next oath ceremony is scheduled for?
If you don't mind my asking, what is your timelines with regards to SEM approval and afterwards until receiving the information that you participate in the aoth ceremony of December 7th?
Many thanks!!!

Hello everybody,
For the Basic Knowledge Test in ZH, the passing score is 30 out of the 50 questions, namely at least 60% of the questions should be answered correctly.
Does anybody know what is the passing score for the KDE test? It seems like there is no official rule.
For example page 49 of "Handbuch Einbürgerungen" says that 30/50 is required for the Basic Knowledge Test, but I don't see a similar statement about KDE on page 34 or on the next pages. https://www.zh.ch/content/dam/zhweb/...01.07.2023.pdf
Thank you!
Silvano
