The Swiss television sender SRF currently has a DOK series "Schweizer machen" following a few people going through the citizenship process (although I believe it could be a bit dated).
The idea of the program does appear to highlight how difficult some places make the citizenship process.

Who actually send this letter?Gemeinde or Kanton?
Are there other people still having their permit after the process?

Hello everyone, quick question if I may.
For those of you with experience interacting with the ch@sem.admin.ch mailbox, how long does it usually take to get a response?
Thanks a lot!

The permit per si is cancelled when the naturalization process is completed.
I hope to have clarified your question.

I would try entering your details on Friday or so in the schweizerpass.ch website. If it allows you to go further, your details are synced to it. It does not take 3 weeks.... | The following 5 users would like to thank Sean Connery for this useful post:

The Zurich Kanton has increased again the number of case offices handling normal applications from 7 to 8 persons, guessing they have an increased workload with COVID. https://www.zh.ch/de/direktion-der-j...ml#-1864346150 | The following 3 users would like to thank litespeed for this useful post:

I tried to ask the British Embassy who to notify, and they gave me a useless UK Visa enquiry number. Anyone have better ideas?

From UK point of view you are British and and for what maters the British citizenship alone is relevant. Having also the Swiss citizenship gives neither any advantages nor any disadvantages (Might be an issue if you work for the secret services or want to become PM). Your Swiss citizenship is only relevant in case you want to renounce the British citizenship. https://www.gov.uk/renounce-british-nationality | This user would like to thank aSwissInTheUS for this useful post:

There's an implied "if you need to" on the end of that.

There's an implied "if you need to" on the end of that. | | | | | Exactly. Some countries (like the Netherlands) have restrictions on additional nationalities, so here the Swiss are simply placing the notification responsibility back on you. | Quote: | | | | they will be informed by me when I don't renew my passport next time around as I don't see the need | | | | | I wish I could do the same, but I have to enter and leave my home country (Australia) on an Aussie passport. This will be expensive, as the AUS and CH passports are respectively the world's 1st and 3rd most expensive.

Mabye you just don't want to travel and instead prefer to live in a goat hut in the Alps.
Personally, I wouldn't ever let a passport lapse. You never know when you might need it to see family or escape whatever place you're in, etc. Trying to get a new passport after it expires is always more of a hassle than if you just renew when it comes time.
