I don't know about the specifics of Lausanne's commune but in Vaud in general, the goal is to provide feedback in a from that is specified by the canton. Link and a bit more explanation in my previous post.
As for the dress code, well, I didn't even think about that. Probably as long as you have pants on nobody cares .

Update:
August 2020 -> KDE/Grundkenntnistest/C-Permit
September 2020 -> Docs sent to the Gemeindeamt
November 2020 -> Confirmation from the Geminedeamt
January 2021 -> Docs sent to my Gemeinde by the Kt
March 2021 -> Request from my Gemeinde to send them my tax declaration
May 2021 -> Invitation to Einbuergerungsgespraech
June 2021 -> Einbuergerungsgespraech
October 2021 -> Municipal citizen's rights granted. Payment bill attached. Case moved to the Gemeindeamt
December 2021 -> Kantonal citizen's rights granted. Payment bill to follow.
BTW, I didn't get any letters between granting municipal and kantonal rights. I think others mentioned that there should be a letter saying that the case is back with the canton now and that I can move freely within a canton. Maybe it got lost.

Gemeinde interview, facts concerning Switzerland, end of Jan. 2022.
Kantonal interview, integration, end of Feb. 2022.
Only 2 and a bit years since we started. Best start learning, I guess. | This user would like to thank NotAllThere for this useful post:

Basically, keep trying the registration system, and once it offers an appointment, you’re fine 😀 | | | | | Dammit I was waiting for a 'you can apply for the biometric passport' letter but I just tried the application regardless and got an appt for tomorrow, thats 3 weeks wasted (3 weeks is up tomorrow) I could probably have had it by now. I'm not sure it's a manual check, mine was 13 minutes between submitting and getting my 'your details are valid' email book an appt.

Some countries (that I know of) allow for dual-citizenship, but when citizens of said country visits it, they cannot use the other id/passport, or use privileges coming from that fact (e.g. use of consular protection etc.).
As in. It's ok for you to have another passport, but since you're also citizen of our country, we'll treat you like so, no matter what passport you'll decide to show us or nationality to invoke.

Woohoo, the other day I got my letter saying that my application is now with the SEM and I will soon receive a bill from them for 500chf, upon which point it may take 8 months to finalize everything.
Any guesstimates on how long it should 'generally' take when I pay the SEM bill next week? | This user would like to thank Chuff for this useful post:

There are timetables on previous pages. I got a SEM bill in July last year, and my Kantonal finalization letter on 25th Nov. Despite official advice, I had passport and ID card a week later - keep trying that bookings portal when the time comes! 😀

One more step taken, few more remaining... Here is my updated timeline:
2019-12-17 Submitted my application to canton VD
2020-10-09 Canton: invoice for CHF 450, asking for more documents
2020-11-18 Canton: letter saying I didn't have enough years! Asking for further proof of residence
2020-12-09 Canton: accepting my years (got the correct document form the canton itself...)
2020-12-10 Canton: application sent from canton to commune
2020-12-15 Commune: invoice from commune (CHF 250)
2021-04-21 Commune: interview with commune (rapport d-enquête)
2021-04-29 Commune: written exam with commune (basic knowledge test, multiple choice)
2021-06-14 Commune: first phase of communal processing is complete (avis de cloture), free to move inside CHF
2021-08-11 Commune: agreed to grant bourgoisie. Files sent back to Canton
2021-08-18 Canton: accepted the application. File sent to SEM (written to expect 4~7 months pocessing time)
2021-12-30 SEM: invoice for 100 CHF
I suppose the next step is waiting for the golden letter in 4~7 months!
