Visa application(type D) from non-home country with the visa valid less than 3 months

Hi,

I need some help! I am currently working in Germany and my German resident permit will expire at the of Sept 2013. I am going to apply for Type D visa for Switzerland from Germany-Dusseldorf. But on the website/application form it is mentioned that the visa for Germany should be valid for at least 3 months i.e. 12 weeks (and my visa is valid for 11 weeks ).

I am trying to extend my visa by another month. Anyone has similar experience? Any advice?

Thanks,
pk86

Have you already got a job offer here? You won't be able to apply for a Type D visa unless you have one.

I have job offer, employment contract and all other documents required for type D application. But the problem is my work permit will expire in 80 days and consulate website says work permit should be at least valid for 90 days i.e. 3 months.

Then contact them and ask if you can get away with 80 days. Seems a bit silly to have to go all the way back to your home country, but then again the Swiss may insist. Or see if you can extend the German one for a few weeks more.

Just to give update that might be useful for others: I called consulate service in Frankfurt and they were not very strict about this "90 days" rule. I submitted my visa application without any issues!
