Waiting for marriage visa approval, looking for a shortcut

Hi guys,

My non-EU girlfriend si waiting for approval to enter and get married here in Switzerland with me (C permit holder). I know the procedure might take some time, I've been told 2 months..., do you think it would be possible to have her with me here as a tourist and then convert her stay once she gets the marriage visa stamped on the passport? Unfortunately the bureocracy is forcing us to be separate against our will. Any suggestion on how cut short times?
I fear swiss authorities would get pissed if she comes earlier.

Thanks.

If she's already applied at her embassy then it will be issued there and she'd have to go back for it anyway. You could try and jump the gun, but the Swiss aren't overly happy with people who do that so do you want to take the risk. A few months isn't going to kill either of you and the quickest way is to let the Swiss do their checks and issue the visa through the proper procedure.

I see, but as far as I know, she will just need to hand the Mexican passport to have the marriage visa stamp. Meantime she could come here with US passport to enter Switzerland, since she has a double passport. Just speculating..., the embassy just need the Mexican passport to be sent to them for the stamp.

Gosh to me that sounds like a recipe for denial and possibly a ban. If she has applied for a marriage visa, I highly recommend she only enters on that, and only on the passport associated with the visa (i.e. not the American one).

Re: Waiting for marriage visa approval, looking for a shortcut

I can tell you from experience that whilst-ever there is an application for a permit/ entry visa in process, it is illegal to enter the country as a tourist. I made that mistake as we were given false information and it took an awful lot of legal wrangling and copious apologies from my husband's employer to make it all ok. It could easily have jeopardised my permit.

I'd suggest your fiance contact the Swiss consulate in her own country to check. Don't just try it. It's not worth the risk.

Yeah, I get the point guys. This is why I like to get some feedbacks from you, so that such ideas can quickly vanish ehehe
Ok so we'll just be patience. It's really not worth the risk.

You will probably find it is less than 8 wks anyway. Time flies when you're in the midst of wedding planning.
