Swiss birth certificate - translation & apostilled

Hi, it's a long time since I've been on here!

I lived in Switzerland 2007-2009 and my eldest was born in Männedorf, ZH in 2009. He has a Swiss birth cert and a UK passport - we never got round to registering his birth with the consulate or getting a UK birth cert for him as we never needed it for his passport etc...

Fast forward 4 years and we have recently moved to Spain, apparently I need translated and apostilled copies of their birth Certs - easy enough for my youngest as he was born in the UK but can anybody advise me how to start with getting this done formy eldest. Do I just contact the office in Männedorf where we registered or do I have to go centrally?

Apparently you can order an international version online.

Thanks for that link - I will probably try calling them when I get chance. I think we may already have the international version as it definitely has 5 languages on (French, German, Italian, English & I think romansch) but it doesn't have castillan Spanish on it so we need a 6th language!

I suspect I will need to get an apostilled copy of the 5 language version and then send that to an official translator here.

I'd register his birth with the UK embassy too if you can still do it. You never know when he might need it later in his life.

I will - it's always been one of those things i meant to get round to one day! Although I have a horrid feeling you only have a year.. I got his UK passport when he was 3 weeks old and then forgot all about it as a passport usually suffices.

THANKS for this,

its great, no need to go in.

SO you just fill it out and submit? They will fetch the birth cert from the Zurich hospital? I live in Schwyz but the kid was born in Zurich hospital.

Looking again at the birth cert today & I am happy to report the fifth language is infact Spanish (don't know what I was looking at before!)

Now I just need it apostilled.
