Canadians travelling in Switzerland - eligible for short-term work permits? Can a Canadian get legally short-term jobs (under 3 months) in Switzerland while travelling? Non EU members may visit Switzerland for a period of 3 months without a visa. Is a permit required? If so, can the permit be obtained if already in Switzerland? How long does it take to get it and where? Is such a permit required for all legal employment? Thanks. |
Re: Canadians travelling in Switzerland - eligible for short-term work permits? frankly, you're probably not eligible. but your best best is a Swiss embassy in your country. You might start here: http://www.eda.admin.ch/canada_all/e/home.html and if you're highly-skilled with the mouse button, you'll find this: http://www.eda.admin.ch/canada_all/e...avel/work.html |
Re: Canadians travelling in Switzerland - eligible for short-term work permits? My guess is that the original poster's penchant for referring to "Switzerland" with the French "Suisse" in their original post might indicate that they speak French (possibly from the French-speaking part of Canada), in which case - they are in luck because they can read all the Swiss government pages in one of the native languages. |
Re: Canadians travelling in Switzerland - eligible for short-term work permits? There is nothing on the Swiss gov web site addressing this issue. They only talk about work permits for longer stays, special types of jobs, etc. Nothing about working for a short period of time (weeks) during the allowed 3 months in the country without a visa. |
Re: Canadians travelling in Switzerland - eligible for short-term work permits? I guess you'll have to take it easy on your Swiss vacation then :) |
