family reunification

Hello everyone!
I come from Greece. I've got a multi visa D for family reunification.
I was in gemainde, filling out a form that they gave me. Have passed since then 2 weeks.
My question is:
What are the next steps? How long the procedure takes time?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Re: family reunification

Okay, I'm confused. Why would you have a Type D visa as an EU national? It's not needed.

If however, you're Serbian that's a different story:

Expect it to be weeks or even months.

Re: family reunification

Yes I am Serbian nationality, but I live in Greece for more than 15 years.
My wife is Greek and has a B visa and work in Rorbas. The whole process went through the Swiss embassy in Athens, because I have work and residence permit for ten years in Greece.
Since I know how much time was needed for permits in Greece (the famous Greek bureaucracy) just afraid that it might be happen here in Switzerland.
I just do not know if I should start looking for a job.
Otherwise many years I worked in a restaurant as a waiter in Crete, and in the last ten years I do graphic design.
Thank you for your response.
Many greetings to all on the forum, and I send special greetings to the Greeks and Serbs.

Re: family reunification

I think it's best to wait until you have your permit because any employer is going to want to know you have one. There are quota limits on non-EU nationals working in Switzerland (and EU ones as well this year) so employers may be reluctant to hire you without being able to show you have a permit. The good news is that as your wife is Greek your permit will allow you to work without having to apply to change it.

Re: family reunification

I have been reading in this forum about family reunification, but i have not seen any similar case about what am going to share below, hopefully someone had gone through it and can help me understand better.
I am non EU, i got married to a swiss citizen on Febuary 2020,
I am holding a 5 years resident permit from italy, my spouse was asked prior our marriage if we are planning also for family reunification after getting married and my spouse joyfuly said yes, so the Civil Registry told my spouse to fill the form from family reunification and told my spouse that they will send the documents to the immigration by themselve including our marriage certificate.
So my question is, i assume that they have posted it the immigration after our marriage about 2 weeks ago,

How long will we wait for an answer?
I came for the marriage without any Visa

Will they ask me to get Visa for the family reunification?

Should i be registered in my spouse's house before the family reunification take Place?

Welcome to the forum.

Where did you marry? If here, then you/he should have applied for a fiance permit which would have allowed you to be here to help with the wedding preparations.

With a residence permit from Italy you can be here for up to 3 months, but after that you need to return to Italy to await a decision, assuming you haven't had one before then.

Re: family reunification

I really appreciate your quick answer,

but how long would have the fiance permit Lasted?

And do you have any idea, how long i have to wait till i get feed back from the immigration?

And moreover, me and my spouse had 1year and 8 months baby together whose is living with my spouse there ; do you think there is a great chance of speeding things up, in other for me to join them?

Until the wedding. You'd have needed to have a definite date and already started preparations off I think. But then you would have applied for family reunification pretty much at the same time.

It takes as long as it takes. You/spouse should check with the cantonal migration office that they have the paperwork and make sure they don't need anything else.
