Visitor visa application - detailed questions

Hello again

Still about visitor visa I have checked in the link I got from this forum (thanks a lot for this forum's members for all the useful information )
http://www.eda.admin.ch/eda/en/home/...aty/ruviv.html

Still have some unclear questions, just for planning / preparing everything. Btw, both I and the visitor are non-EU. I am a PhD student and have B permit here. He wants to visit me for about 90days per visit (or for total 6 months this year).

= travel insurance : Does the visitor need to have this from home (country of origin)? Or will it be covered by the health insurance that I will apply for him here?

= bank account / guarantee : As required (although, the amount is not mentioned in the link above ), I need to have 20K CHF to guarantee his stay here. Is it okay if I have the total amount needed from different account (partly from my CHF accounts here, partly from my other Euro account in another EU country)?

= a letter from the employer : This is mentioned in the link above (no. 8 of the required documents). Is this a COPY of my employment contract? Or a kind of invitation letter written by my boss?

= return ticket : This is not mentioned in the link above, but I read in this forum that it is required to show return ticket during submitting application. Which info is correct? (because, actually, we are afraid that his visa application will be rejected, or be issued too late, and he will lost the money used for the tickets )

= duration before the visa application approved : Can anybody tell me how long does it take since he first submits visa application in the embassy in the home country?

I guess that's all for now Looking forward to hearing others experiences. Many thanks in advance

1. 90 days in the max for a visitor visa - do you intend applying twice?
2. travel insurance is additional to health insurance
3. generally in chf in a Swiss bank
4. copy of employment contract plus last payslip
5. return ticket is required
6. anything from 1 to 3 months

Re: Visitor visa application - detailed questions

When I submitted my visa application in Swiss Embassy in Bangkok, it took me 1 month to get the visa. However, it's case to case basis.

About the ticket, they only ask for reservation ticket (two way) along with all the requirement. It is not required to have the real ticket, I think because maybe if ever my visa application is denied, I can cancel the ticket.

About the travel insurance, I just pass the health insurance that my boyfriend gave me and that was it.

1. yes, the current plan is to apply twice (to use all the allowed visiting days, i.e. 6 months/year)

2. I post another thread about health insurance here: health insurance for visitor (with visitor visa)
Nobody has replied yet. I want to ask where I can apply for short-term health insurance for the visitor?

3-6. Many thanks very useful information.

Re: Visitor visa application - detailed questions

Hi kar

I would recommend to get the insurances both in one abroad. Usually travel agents happily sell you these. Since (usually) health care costs are estimated lower in other countries it might be substantially cheaper. For India for example it's about 1/4 of local insurances with (basically) the same coverage.

Re: Visitor visa application - detailed questions

Hi,

I'm non-EU with B permit, I'll receive some relatives here for Christmas and I would like to prepare then an invitation letter, in order to avoid problems with Authorities in the airport, They are Brazilians and don't need a visa to come to Switzerland if they are not more than 3 motnhs here. But in general they should show an Hotel Reservation and some money, but how they will stay in my house they will not be able to prove the Hotel. Is there anyone with an example of Invitation letter that I could use as template

Thank you very much,
Mario Solis
