Re: Birth certificates less than 6 months old?

I think you need to talk to the Kuwait embassy to find out how to get a copy of your birth certificate as Kuwait issued the original. Ask for an international copy if they do one as I believe this comes in several languages.

As far as a notarised affidativ I would think any public notary near to where your fiance lives would be able to do that for him. But he could ask the Indian embassy if they could do it.

Send a PM ( private message) to Porsch1909 on here. He got a Kuwait birth certificate recently so he'll be able to tell you how to go about it. I don't think it was actually very difficult to get. He did have to get an official translation before the Neuchatel authorities would accept it though.

Marriage registration in CH ... Help

Hello
My Friend is an Indian national born in Kuwait and his girl friend is a swiss citizen. We are preparing for the civil marriage ceremony in zug,ch . The registration office in zug asked us to provide below documents in order to grant marriage authorisation
1. Birth certificate of boy not older than 6 months
2. Notarised affidavit stating address and marriage status

http://www.expatica.com/ch/family/Pa...and_17296.html

Boy has original birth certificate in Arabic (issued by Kuwait ) and a certified English translation but both are very old copies 26 years old ..

In such case should we contact Kuwait embassy to get the latest copy of the birth certificate or should we contact Indian embassy and they In turn contact Kuwait embassy ?

Boy is a resident of UK on work permit but right now in Dubai on a holiday till mid of jan 2014. So want to get some work done here in Dubai (as much as possible )

We contacted Kuwait embassy both in uK and Dubai over phone but we were informed to come in person for such enquiries .. We will be visiting Kuwait embassy tomorrow in Dubai ..

Indian embassy not at all helpful (as usual) .. . Switzerland civil registration office will not help further until we provide them the requested documents

Please could you also advise where to obtain the notarised affidavit from ?? (Boy is resident of UK) .. I mean does he have to go to India to get this or can he get this from Indian embassy in UK ?? Or somewhere else ?

Anyone here with such experience Please can u help thanks

Your thoughts / advise will be very helpful

Apologies for spelling mistakes and grammatical errors ..

Re: Marriage registration in CH ... Help

Thanks a lot Porsch1909 , please can you let me know how long did this take ?

I spoke to my friend in Kuwait to help me with this .. The Kuwait embassy in UK asked me to contact the officials in Kuwait directly to get this ..

Also did you have to attest the birth certificate from Kuwait embassy before submitting it to the concerned office in Switzerland ? (I am assuming you went through this for legal work Switzerland ).. if not kindly ignore this question

Any idea if the ministry of health in Kuwait also provide international copy of the birth certificate ?

Thanks a lot again

Re: Marriage registration in CH ... Help

IIRC they did it while waiting.

It had to be translated into French. I have details of a translator on Geneva if you require an Arabic to French translator.

Re: Marriage registration in CH ... Help

Dear Friends,

Just an update,

We received an email from the head of civil registry office (Leiterin Zivilstandsamt) confirming that they accept the original birth certificate and its english translation and they do NOT need a recent copy of the birth certificate.

They have asked us to proceed with the marriage preparation i.e. fill out required forms and go to the Swiss embassy in the UK. Once there, submit the filled forms , the birth certificate and its translation as well as water , electricity or gas bills ( utility bill ) and copy of UK residence permit and Indian Passport of course.

The Swiss representation will take care of the authentication process by charging a fee of 500 CHF and they also mentioned that the entire process would take 3 - 4 months and we have to be patient till then.

Thanks,
Raj

Re: Marriage registration in CH ... Help

Sorry forgot to mention, the civil office in Zug (CH) also confirmed that they accept single status affidavit that is attested by the Indian consulate in the UK.

The process to get such affidavit is fairly straight forward and the staffs in the Indian consulate (Birmingham,UK) were very helpful.

Re: Marriage registration in CH ... Help

Dear friends,

i am writing this question on my own thread as it is related to marriage registration question, please let me know if have to open a new thread for this.

My fiancee and I have submitted all the required documents for registration and paid 500CHF in the civil office. We are looking forward to hear from them within the next 3 months.

I understand that after approval of authorization, we are okay to get married in Switzerland (civil ceremony) and once married we will get the marriage certificate within few days or weeks.

The situation is that after marriage we both will temporarily live in UK for 6 months and after that we plan to live in Switzerland for 2-3 years.

My question is what is the process for me to move to Switzerland after we leave the UK? I mean what category or type of visa i need to apply and where do i have to apply this from (India or UK)?

Also Is it legal to go to Switzerland using a visitor visa after marriage and then extend or convert my visa type once i am there?

*I am an Indian citizen and at present resident of UK (work-permit).
*Fiancee is naturalized Swiss citizen living in Switzerland

Thanks in advance.

Thanks,
rajesh

Hello,

I am an Indian national getting married to a EU national in Switzerland. Can someone please guide me in the process here. I have gone through the Swiss Embassy Links and it says I need to submit documents in India. Or is it sufficent that I send documents to Switzerland to be verified. And what other documents are required?

Re: Marriage registration in CH ... Help

Welcome to the forum.

No, you must send the documents to the Swiss embassy in India as instructed.

Your fiance needs to contact his local civil registrar's office to find out what paperwork he needs for arranging the marriage and he also needs to apply for a fiance permit for you to be able to come here to be married.

Hi there.

Ask your fiancé to contact registry office/gemeinde of place of residency, they will provide you with all necessary information, give a list of documents to be submitted and will inform of preparations process. You will have to prepare these documents (with all relevant translations and notarisations..) and give them to Swiss consulate in India for check up.
