You have a Type D visa, but it's your Swiss permit that counts for travel within the EU. It doesn't matter if it's an L, B or C permit so long as you have one! Take it and your passport with you just in case you need to show them.
Have an enjoyable trip. |

Both countries are in Schengen (for now) so no problem.

This official page https://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home...reise/faq.html says: I have a Type D visa containing an entry saying "Suisse". Does this visa authorise me to travel around in the Schengen area?
On 5 April 2010, Type C and Type D visas were given parity of treatment as far as freedom to travel within the Schengen area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period is concerned. | Quote: | | | | | Hi,

Thanks in advance. | | | | | Don't confuse Visa's and Permits. Your D visa got you into Switzerland where you should have got an L,B or C permit. Once you have the permit, the D visa is obsolete. The Permit allows you to travel within Schengen.

I think he is not confused with entry visa and permit. He is just asking a question that can he cross the Swiss border with the entry visa. I have two incidents to tell:
1) One of my friend came here to work for just 3 months, he received only this entry visa not any ID. Of course he or his company might have got L work permit approval somewhere in paper. His stay was less than 90 days so he was not required to register or take mandatory health insurance. He crossed border many times during his stay.
2) When I came here I got ID about 1 month later but I crossed Swiss-German border with entry visa and came back and it was checked as well when we stopped there to declare our purchase.
So as long as your multi entry visa is valid there should not be any problem in Schengen area. | Quote: | | | | | Don't confuse Visa's and Permits.
