Yes, I want to 'marry' somebody to be able to stay in Switzerland, but I don't see this as a strategic move solely. I want to stay with somebody I can love, share my time with, travel together, introduce to my family, grow up with, support and lean on. I want a life partner regardless of the place I will be living in. And I want to live in Switzerland as well. Why can't I have both?

I am an average, normal, well travelled and educated guy that normally wouldn't post something like this. I hope not to be taken for a crazy or desperate guy.
Starting a thread with the subject "Who wants to marry me", in the Permits section and then going into detail how you want to find a man to marry and give you a ticket into the country as a bonus? No, not crazy or desperate at all, perfectly normal...

One of my friends often refers to herself as "both the man and the woman" in her relationship, such as it is...

I give up trying to explain that I already know that. Love is somehow an exchange in which both parts win and become a team. I am sure that some of the readers got my point instead of questioning it just for the sake of it.
I think what's being questioned by people who might have the advantage of experience or knowledge or a bit of critical thinking, is the naivety. This rather bar trade might not be a recipe for long lasting quality. I do understand it might last those requested years that would be needed for an independent residency permit, sure.

Don't sweat it, I am naieve, too in some ways. Just think that opportunism gives a little chance to personal happiness, yours or the other person in your "team". No matter how much elbow grease (or size of rug burns) you want to put in it.

Re: Who wants to marry me?

Not just youth.

I knew of someone who came here in her mid-forties with just that intention. Trouble is she couldn't differentiate and thought any man who spoke Swiss-German was automatically Swiss!

At 27, I'd expect a little more maturity

OP, not sure what you want here, so maybe you'll be better off using one of those online partnership things - just open an ad that clearly states you're looking for "a Swiss guy based in Switzerland to get married to". Who knows. I'm sure there's other people who are equally desperate as yourself, though probably for different reasons.

Btw, I hope you get the irony and contradiction in claiming you want "true love" and opening this thread.

I'd recommend seeking happiness and not Swissness. You can always visit Switzerland on vacation.....

Re: Who wants to marry me?

OP first I would like to suggest you to look for what you are looking for not on EF but on some social networking websites of homosexual community in Switzerland, simply because they are more specialized regarding your targets and you will have a larger chance there.

Second, you should know that the immigration status should be the result of a relationship and not a reason (well, let's be more reasonable, not the only or the dominant reason). This is for your own happiness and your own life. Even if you find a Swiss man willing to register the partnership with you, things will definitely not work like that so that tomorrow you can pack you stuff and buy a ticket to Switzerland. Without a serious relationship, it will be very difficult (if ever possible) to get your partnership registered/recognized by Swiss authority, especially in your case which is on the top of their suspicion list (A Swiss suddenly asks to marry a foreigner residing in a foreign country without significant previous experience of being physically together). I know a case like you where it took entirely 2 years before the authorities clear all the doubts and approve a Swiss to bring his foreign fiancÚ to Switzerland.

My Swiss husband and I (an American) easily married here in CH, after having known each other less than a year and having only visited each other a few times. The marriage was in April, 2009. Maybe things have changed since then?

Anyways, are same-sex marriages legal here in CH? I looked it up, and found this: "Same-sex couples are given limited legal benefits with civil recognition."

Not sure what that means, exactly. e.g. Would a foreign member of a same-sex couple be granted a B (and later a C) permit?

Regular vacations spent together is considered as a favorable evidence of a serious relationship.

Yes. Something changed from 1/1/2011, after which a foreigner without a legal residence status (a valid permit or visa > 90 days) cannot get married in Switzerland.

It is called registered partnership (same-sex) in Switzerland, not a same-sex marriage. In many ways the same-sex partners are treated as a married couple (e.g. tax, next of kin, B/C permit rights...), also they have a shortened delay before regular naturalization.

Jep, things have changed since then http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/politics...l?cid=31731948

There's no such thing as same-sex marriage here, only same-sex registered partnerships, but these have more or less the same rights as heterosexual marriages.

Frankly, I didn't even bother to get into the legal details, and especially not the fact that entering a sham marriage (and this would clearly be one) is a crime... I assume OP is either trolling or, if serious, he should definitely find a different platform...

Re: Who wants to marry me?

Sebast,
You are playing the short game. You need to play the long game. What do you mean you are a "hispanic American"? Are you a US citizen or a citizen of one of the countries in the Americas that speak Spanish?

You have a few options:

1. Come back to Switzerland for more school/uni/degrees then meet a lovely man you can manipulate into marrying you.

2. Move to Argentina where 1/2 the populations has EU citizenship. Meet someone there who you can then manipulate into moving to Switzerland. Hurry, because the borders might be closing.

3. Deep into your family history and see if you can't find an EU citizen in your back ground, then apply for EU citizenship and move to Switzerland. But hurry, the borders are closing.

I'm sure there are more options.....

The OP is probably looking for someone with a GSOH, decent looking, intelligent, caring, loving, a considerate lover and with compatible interests.

As we all know, that pretty much covers every man
And good personal hygiene.

Cool. Prostitutes and fake marriages.

You stay classy, EF...
Aw, come on now! I'll concede that the "prostitute" thing was really weird considering that (a) the guy was totally serious and (b) it was Sunday post and not a Friday.

But this? This is more like like the digital version message in a bottle . And who knows, might lead to at the least a pen pal.

You never know...

I love this. I am sincere..Aren't we all pen pals on EF?
Though, I kinda think pen-pal-ship ain't the thing OP is after. I do like him being open and sincere, maybe it's us who attach ourselves to an outdated idea of magic.

I know..But, as moi as a teacher - he expresses himself well and quite genuinely, looks like he will take in all the little pokes we served him, too. I think he might actually succeed and we should refresh our 101happinessquest knowledge.
