Re: Renewal of permit denied - what now?

Congratulations!

As for the Migrationsamt... go down there in person and ask whether they can give you an idea of how long it might take. Get them to confirm that they have all the documents they need from you. Then - go home and wait. It may not speed them up at all, but at least you can stop chewing your fingernails wondering what they're going to ask for next.

Re: Renewal of permit denied - what now?

You will need to provide more than just the marriage certificate.
I guess it's different for each canton, but my husband had to sign a document to say he would be financially responsible for me. I had to take, Passport, birth cert, proof I had sent a P85 to HMRC in the UK, and work contracts. Much easier to do it in person.

Re: Renewal of permit denied - what now?

I guess because she already had a B permit before, I thought the Migration would be the right place to write to. But I will contact our local Gemeinde and see what they say. As my wife has already been living here for 5 years, she is already registered at the Gemeinde and doesn't need to send in any further documents. But you are right, maybe the Gemeinde can help us. Thanks guys.

Congratulations! See these people for what they are paper pushing monkeys who hold on to their two minutes of power to make others miserable.

They'll ask for more paperwork that's the way it works. Regardless of how many times they've had it before. Play the game and be patient.

Eventually they'll have to hand the permit over.

Just picture their faces in the office as they have to produce it.

You've won.

Re: Renewal of permit denied - what now?

Basically I wrote 2 letters saying that we're married and to please issue the new permit. I also called up once and it said that the case is still in process...so basically I just waited until last week when I got a letter saying to send in her old permit and a photo (which I already did in February but nevermind) I was able to send in another photo but I told them that the old permit is already with them...today I got the permit including invoice with no further correspondence...I guess they weren't happy that we "won" in the end haha. Oh well...we (especially my wife) couldn't be happier tho
