Swiss CE Permit. Time allowed abroad?

How long are holders of a CE permit (EU national B permit) allowed to stay abroad? Say you wanted to travel.

Re: Swiss CE Permit. Time allowed abroad?

No idea what a CE permit is supposed to be. But holders of both C and B permits can only be out of the country for a maximum of 6 months at a time unless their company sends them to work abroad or they have to do military service.

With a C permit you can live abroad up to 4 (four) years, but you need an authorization. I still do not know from whom , I am looking for it

I'm EU with a B permit and it says 6 months.

However nowhere does it say CE, no idea what that is!

No, I think that it's when your home country requires mandatory service in their military, but you'd have to check on that. As for whom you ask, it's your commune/gemeinde. They have to approve putting your permit on hold and the criteria as fatmanfilms says is very narrow: the military service, further education or your company sends you abroad for work purposes, that's it.

Mad_man, if you're not going to have a job here (i.e. travel a lot) then you'll need to be independently wealthy to get a permit to live here. And frankly if you are I can't really see the point of moving from where you're based.

Re: Swiss CE Permit. Time allowed abroad?

Afaik, a CE permit is a B, only no one calls it that.

On a B, you can't stay out of the country for longer than 6 months. Very very few exceptions aside.

Funny, I've never heard it called anything else. Even Swiss government docs/websites refer to a B or residence permit, never a CE one. Not even shown as such on the list.

Weird.

Re: Swiss CE Permit. Time allowed abroad?

With a B permit you can stay for maximum 6 months outside CH. I have

But you have to declare that to the authorities.

If you are living in Zurich, you need to go to the immigration office behind Fraumunster and apply for this. They will check if your financial / social records. Then they will issue a paper saying that your B permit is valid till exactly 6 months after your departure date although you do not have any address / income during this time.

You can also deregister from abroad. They will tell you everything.

But, they may ask you for a Police clearance certificate during the next renewal of your B permit. (At least they did for me). If you can't get the PCI , you can go to the local notary and declare that you do not have any criminal record so far.

But again like others said : I am not aware of what CE permit is. If its a new category please enlighten us. :-D .-)
