visa and work permit

Hello...

Good day!
This is my first post to the forum. So long I have only been a mere spectator trying to pop-in...now that I have something I thought of getting your help...BTW its a great forum for people living in Swiss...Kudos to all the participants. My question is simple:

I am a non EU citizen working in Basel since Feb 2008 and have a L permit valid until August 2008. My visa is expiring on 20th of april 2008.
  1. Do I need to renew my visa to stay further?
  2. Can I leave Swiss after april 2008 for vacation and come back to work in June 2008? If yes, will I be able to enter with only valid L permit and expired visa??...
I have been trying to find an answer to this question searching through the forum but couldnt find one....

your guidance is highly appreciated..

Re: visa and work permit

Hi there,

Maybe you'll find the information you are looking for, in the official homepage of the Swiss Federal Office for Migration.

Re: visa and work permit

Hi Eddy,

I were in a similar situation last year, I have been for 4 months living in Zurich with a L visa, I asked in the kreisburo how could I renew that, and the answer was that it would be possible only if the company where I worked applied for my Immigration, or any other company. I suggest anyway that you go to the same place were you did your registration and ask to them. Are your compny planning to hire you definitly here, so they should be able to do that, no?

Cheers

Re: visa and work permit

Non-EU Permits - a few bullet points.

what are you defining as a "visa"? The L-permit is a separate document, right?

No. The visa only serves for the initial entry. The duration of your stay is regulated by your permit. UNless you resign / are fired prior to August 2008 you can stay.

Yes, see above.

And it is called SWITZERLAND.

Yes you would need to show the permit. The advantage of having the permit is that you can fly with one way ticket into Switzerland which you cant if you have only the Visa. The permit is considered to be a visa here in Switzerland. This is the same as some other countries singapore for example.

Hope this helps

Re: inquiry!!!

Hi! Good day to you. I am new to this forum. I am a foreigner from asia and holding a working permit ''B'' provided by my current employer in Basel airport.
My purpose for writing you is just to inquire about the laws and conditions concerning to a person holding a working permit ''B''. My questions or inquiries are the following:

1. As a working permit ''B'' holder provided by my current employer, are we allow to apply for work to some other company with the same service or product with my current employer? (Of course I have to resign first from my current employer before I start working to a new company)

2. If so, what will happen to my working permit ''B''? I am Aware that my future new employer I am applying for will provide me a new working permit but;

3. Is my current employer has an authority to cancel my stay and a chance to work for some other companies here in switzerland after I resign from them?
4. Lastly, what is my ideal salary if I am working as an aircraft technician with an age of 36 years and 8 months old with a 15 years of experience in my career with a 3 year course university background?

Thank you very much and I would appreciate if you give time to answer my queries.

With kind Regards,

People (yes, that also includes Shorrick) do 'sometimes' sleep at night and/or early morning ...
Wait a while mate ... you will surely find someone answering you ...

For 4th point, just thought you can have a look here. Surely, someone with experience in exact field as you are may be able to give you a better idea ... but till then... as it is often said "self help is the best help"

All the best.

Re: visa and work permit

Hi;

I also signed a contract with a big international company in Basel-Mulhouse Airport. Here is my question. In average, how long does it take to obtain B-type work/residence permit for a non-EU person in Basel-Stadt?
