Help with calculating years for passport

Hello. Could someone please help me with calculating the number of years I have lived in Switzerland for the purposes of finding out how many years I have towards my passport:

I came to Switzerland in September 2001 at the age of 16 (turned 17 in Dec 03 - dob 12/12/1984)). I graduated high school in Switzerland in June 03 and then started a university degree that split my time between Switzerland and France for 4 years. I graduated from university in June 07 and have been working in Switzerland since then.

Some people say years spent under 18 count as double, and some say 20. I'd really appreciate any help in this as it's so confusing!

Thanks!
Valerie

Years under 20 count double. You can calculate for yourself here.

At least give complete information! What is your nationality? Should we assume that you are French or are you from a third country? If you are French then what is the rush for a Swiss pass? As for the time frame others can answer that

Re: Help with calculating years for passport

Thanks for the calculator - that's really helpful. Apparently I have to wait until April 2010 to apply for my citizenship.

I current hold a Spanish passport but would rather hold a Swiss passport as I have no real connections or ties to Spain but my whole life and family is now in Switz.

Ain't that irrelevant, except maybe if a person is stateless?

"It's best to give full information when asking questions", isn't that the buzz phrase on the forum?
Reason I asked was because qualification criteria for Swiss pass might vary depending on your current nationality (EU, Non-EU etc). Most importantly I wanted to know where he was from
