Apostille of documentation for Indian national

Hello all,

I have received a job offer in Switzerland and the process of work permit is under progress. I'm from India currently in UK.

My HR told that she applied for work permit at the cantonal authorities. However, today she contacted me to provide original birth certificate and marriage certificate (with
apostille) as requested by the concerned authorities. Is this a standard procedure to provide original documents for the work permit issue. What happens if my original documents are lost during this process ?

Now looks like the process will be delayed owing to the waiting time till I get apostille on my documents and send them by post to my HR.

Also, if any Indian national has obtained the apostille on documents in India, kindly let me know the procedure. Is it the same as described in VFS website.

Re: Apostille of documentation for Indian national

Yes Apostille is standard process to make documents recognized worldwide. It is a 2 step process:

1) State attestation: You will need to take documents to Home Department of the state where they were issued.
2) MEA Attestation or Apostille: They will put apostille sticker once you are done with state home department.

You can look at this thread to see how apostille looks like Dependent visa, Permit B for spouses wanting to reunite with family in Switzerland
