Face to face meeting asked by authorities for non-EU work permit process

Hi guys,

I'm an HR professional from Turkey and I got an offer from a big multinational in Zurich for a new HR system implementation project. My work permit application was done on March 6th and I assume the cantonal approval (Zurich) is ok but the company is waiting for the federal approval.HR dept told me that authorities asked a face to face meeting to discuss the details and I was supposed to start on April 13th according to my contract.I'm a bit worried cause of the face to face meeting request and also when I consider the fact that I was supposed to be in Zurich this weekend to start on monday. Is it supposed to mean that my WP will not be approved or am I too worried? Thanks for your support from now on!

I'd say if it hasn't been flat-out denied yet then I think you can hope a little bit. However, you obviously can't start work on Monday and they are going to need to revise the contract. You need your permit approved and your D-visa stamped in your passport before you hop on the plane.

Re: Face to face meeting asked by authorities for non-EU work permit process

Since your role is that of an HR professional, of which there is probably no shortage in CH/EU, the authorities probably want to ensure that there is something unique and substantial about the role you are foreseen for, like this HR system implementation activity, which you mentioned.
The firm which gave you the contract will know what is acceptable, and would not have attempted a permit application if it is hopeless, and, no doubt will make (have made) a good case for you.
Contact them tomorrow morning, to discover what the situation is.

Re: Face to face meeting asked by authorities for non-EU work permit process

Sounds as if the Federal end wants some clarification from the company regarding the application. Their criteria is different from the cantonal one. The non-EU hiring process is outlined here:

https://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home...zulassung.html

https://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home...ensablauf.html

All you can do is wait until you hear back from the HR.
