British on G permit changing Jobs.....

Hi there all,
I have been trying to get some concrete info re my permit newly issued.
I am British Citizen and had a job (now finished) and have been issued a 5 year G permit which is great.
I live in Ticino during the week and lake Como weekends.

The problem being I am unsure if my permit is tied to my job and therefore invalid?????
Also if i find another job i guess it needs updating....

Also if i could now actually buy a car with Swiss plates......

And if that wasn't enough if i wanted to become self employed here in Switzerland whether i could do that or start and small business (for this i am fairly sure i need a B permit).

Thanks so much for your help and time on advance if anybody knows.

Eugene

Not technically, though I suspect you may need to apply for a new G permit if/when you find another cross border job. Certainly you'll need to update the details with the office that issued it to you.

No. Only residents in Switzerland can have Swiss registered licence plates as far as I know. As you're not living here you'll have to stick to Italian plates.

Again no, you can't start a business here because you'd need to move to Switzerland to get a B permit. Self-employment isn't available to G permit holders as far as I know. Still, you could ask the office that issued your permit to be sure.

If you have a holiday home here, you can have a car registered here, no need to be a resident, however you can't drive the car in your home country.

Wow thanks guys for the advice, it seems that then i will have to apply for my B permit and then all is golden.
Otherwise things are a pain it seems.
