Non_EU early permit C application, need help

Hello everyone, I have been in Lausanne from 2011 and it has been 5 years with permit B already, which included 3 years as PhD and 2 years as permanent contract. Now it is the time to extend permit B again. I hope to know if I can apply for the early permit C in Canton vaud ?

Thanks a lot for your attention!

See Integration FAQ #12 for more information:

https://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/fr/home...ation/faq.html

For obvious reasons it is not in English.

Re: Non_EU early permit C application, need help

The Swiss government does indeed issue "early" C permits. In the first six months of 2015, 1'265 (3.5%) of the C permits were issued early after 5 years of residence.

"Zwischen Januar und Juni 2015 wurden 36571 Niederlassungsbewilligungen C erteilt. Davon wurden 1265 (3.5%) vorzeitig erteilt."

Citizens of these countries were the largest recipients of "early" C permits: India, Russia, Turkey, Romania and Hungary.

Getting an early C for a Non EU, NON US passport is very much a roll of dice. I have had friends who have got it and others who have not.

But always worth a try

Even when fulfilling all the criteria?

And we were two more of those. We didn't have to do anything, really. There's a box at the bottom of the form of the B renewal that asks you if you want a C, which we checked. When we submitted the form at the cantonal office in Lausanne we also gave them copies of my husband's paystubs and my B2 french certificate. Less than a month later, C permits arrived. We had been here exactly 5 years, all on B permits.

That's the case of the western rich country citizens. Others have this C-permit check-box after 10 years. But may apply after 5 years and might get it even, having fulfilled some criteria.
