Migrationsamt-Migration Office Zurich: Questions

Servus!

I registered at my local Kreisburo a week ago. Today I received a letter from the Migration Office in which basically I am being asked to provide documentation attesting financial support from parents or relatives. The deadline is set on November 16.

I'm applying for a B permit.

My questions are: how should I hand these documents to the Migration office? Do I have to do this in person? More importantly, whatever the method chosen (by post or in person) what if they find out after the deadline, that some other stuff is required? I called the Migration office but the guy I talked with wasn't able to provide an exhaustive list of all the documents required for the process. I don't want to skip more classes as typically the queues at the Migration office are long and the opening hours are not student-friendly (8:00-14:30).

I forgot to ask, does the Migration office charge any fee? The booklet from the Eth I read doesn't mention any, but I want to be sure.

In the end, after all this Via Crucis, how long will it take the office to issue the residence permit?

EU or Non-EU ? - what is your country of origin?

Are you applying for a student B or a normal working B or some other sort of B ?

Re: Migrationsamt-Migration Office Zurich: Questions

You knew you had to supply this info back in July so why didn't you get this done before you arrived?

Master student (EU citizen) moving to Schweiz: questions

"This from ETHZ's website:

evidence of sufficient financial resources (not required if you entered Switzerland with a student visa). As financial evidence, the Migration Office accepts your own bank statement or (if you are an EU/EFTA citizen) a letter from your parents confirming that they will support you with CHF 1750 per month.

https://www.ethz.ch/en/studies/inter...ce-permit.html"

If other documentation is required they'll tell you and give you a reasonable amount of time to provide it.

I have already gathered all these documents you mentioned and I thank you again for your previous help. My present question however is different. I'm not in Zurich this week, so for me delivering all the documents by post is a convenient option, provided that it's a viable one. So, back to the original question, do I have to be physically present at the Migration office or not? I apologize for the lack of concision and clarity of my previous post.

If they're copies then post them should be okay. If originals then either post using registered delivery or take them there personally.

And make sure you both include a covering letter listing the documents and keep the postal receipt, as they do sometimes lose documents.
