L for permanent contract???

Hello

I received my work permit which is good, but it is an L permit however my contract is permanent. I thought I will get a B.

My company says that they do not know why I got L not B, maybe because of I am from Hungary or the contingent is full.

When a Company applies for a permit they states what kind of permit they want? Or just they need a permit for somebody and the Authority decides what it will grant?

If anybody has any info on this please share it with me I am a bit confused. I guess I will have some disadvantages in the future because of the L permit(eg: looking for apartman).

Thank you

The permit is decided upon and delivered by the authority based on the supporting documentation sent by the employer. Most likely the Hungarian B contingent has dried up.

As this is an EU permit you should not.

I thought quota's were abolished for EU countries now? There should be no problem for an EU citizen to get a B-permit, you don't even need a job to come as far as I know. Sounds more like you're company messed it up (?)

As fas as I know there is a difference between EU-17 and EU-8(this is where I belong). There are still quotas for EU-8.

So this means that teh Company did not stated that they want a L permit for me they just sent everything and the Authority decided to give me an L instead of B(because of the continget is full).

Thank you Shorrick!

my partner and I have L permits but that didnt hinder us too much in getting an apartment... you need to persevere and explain to the landlord that you do intend to stay longterm! good luck
