Applied for my C renewal during the first week of April and recieved it last week. The Geminde warned me that in Aargau permit renewals are taking up to 3 months!
oh no! so it is true! i went to my gemeinde in canton aargau today to renew my b-permit and they told me that it would take 3-4 months! i thought they were exaggeerating because i've been renewing my b-permit for the last 4 years now & i always got it back between 3-5 weeks!! now, they just gave me this paper saying that they are in the process of renewing my permit in case i want to travel! BUT, does anyone know or has an experience in actually travelling with this paper (written in german!) - i'm quite skeptical because i need a visa to enter switzerland without my B-Permit..

Re: How long did it take to renew your permit?

We got ours (non-EU B permits) back in less than 2 weeks (including 2 weekends). Turned in on a Thursday, returned 12 days later on a Tuesday.

Kreis 2, Enge, Zurich.

Non-EU B permit renewal took exactly 4 working days ( 95 CHF and new photograph required ).

Re: How long did it take to renew your permit?

We're from the U.S.A. and had 3 year C permits, which would have expired in October. We received the renewal forms 12 August, went to the Migration Office 14 August (wasn't possible on 13 August), received the new 5 year C permits (along with the invoice) yesterday in the mail. And 15 August was a holiday in Luzern.

According to their website, C permit renewal is normally 10-14 days from receipt of the renewal form and soon-to-be-expired permits. We went to the office because we're going on vacation soon. When we asked the woman at the office if there would be a problem, she assured us that we would get them in time. She's right.

And 131.00 CHF for both of them, is a lot better deal than the yearly B permit renewal fee.

Re: How long did it take to renew your permit?

Inspired by another thread I am now curious... can B permit renewals be applied for prior to the expiration of the permit? And if so, how soon before the expiration date?

According to this thread, in some cases it took 2 to 3 months to get the renewal. So if the permit expires in March would it be acceptable to start the process in January?

Re: How long did it take to renew your permit?

The local Gemeinde sends out the renewal form by post 3 months before the expiry.

So theoretically if all goes well you will have your new permit before the expiry of the current one! Though I could never test this theory, I will surely test it when it is time for the next renewal.
