Address in a different canton, non-eu

Hello everyone,

I have an approval for work permit from canton St.Gallen.

Only yesterday I realized that the apartment that I have found and have already signed the contract falls under canton Thurgau. I didnt know about this beforehand because the the apartment is located nearby the company where I would work.

I haven't entered Switzerland yet and I shall arrive only on January 5th. Is it possible to register with another canton? I have read from other posts that it requires a special permission letter from the canton (where work permit is allocated) to move to another canton.

In my case I haven't registered at any Gemeinde and I am a non-eu national. I thought of looking for an another apartment but with only a short time left and given that I have already signed a contract, I guess finding a new apartment would be tough.

I look forward to your suggestions.

Thanks

Why would you have a work permit from St. Gallen if the company that applied for it is based in Thurgau?

He doesn't say the company is based in Thurgau but the appartment he signed for is, which is an easy mistake as St. Gall & Thurgau are side by side

Then yes, you have to ask permission from both St Gallen and Thurgau. Or as others will tell you you can go straight to Thurgau and they'll issue you your permit. Take your choice which you want to try.
