Dependent B permit Non-EU working query

Hello,

I am living in Switzerland with a dependent B permit, and I am from India(non-EU).

Am I eligible to work with my current visa, or do I need to have any process done to be eligible to work in Switzerland.

Many thanks in advance

No you're eligible to work, you just need to let your gemeinde/cantonal migration office know once you have an employment contract.

Re: Dependent B permit Non-EU working query

Um, that makes it more complicated. Is your spouse moving with you? Because one of the conditions for getting the dependent's permit is that you both live together.

Re: Dependent B permit Non-EU working query

Ohh!!!

We have not yet decided on it yet, however were thinking only I would be moving to Basel. As doing journey everyday would be hectic.

If only I have move what would be process, do I need to get a new permit and not as dependent.

Re: Dependent B permit Non-EU working query

You're unlikely to be able to get a new permit as your potential employer would have to go through the non-EU hiring criteria to prove they can't find a Swiss/EU national who could do the job.

https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home...zulassung.html

Also to be able to move your spouse/you would have to ask permission from Basel canton to do so.

And what about your spouse's job? They can't give that up because then neither of you would have permits. Your permit is tied to his so if he loses his because he has no job here then you lose your permit as well.

if you live with your husband in one canton but work in another, is that ok?

Re: Dependent B permit Non-EU working query

If you stay in Vaud and commute then you just have to let your commune admin office know that you're going to be working by taking your signed employment contract into the office for them to have a look at.

Re: Dependent B permit Non-EU working query

I suppose that it is also a question of definition, I.e. where you have residency. If you live 5 days a week in Basel for work purposes but spend your weekends in Vaud where your husband lives and your for all other matters of life have residency, I would believe that you are still considered a resident of Vaud and not BS/BL and you will continue to pay your taxes in Vaud.

Re: Dependent B permit Non-EU working query

Hello,

Is it possible to do so, because travelling daily would be hectic and to and fro would be around 6 hours.

What would be process of housing and all in this case.

Many thanks in advanced.

Re: Dependent B permit Non-EU working query

As you are living here because of family reunification, you and your spouse should live together and having second home is not allowed.

How about moving to a place in between your work place and your spouse work location? So, you both commute every day.

Once you have a work contract take the same to your commune/cantonal office and they will take a copy of it and put it in to your file.

You'd have to talk to both cantons (Vaud and Basel) to get permission and then you'd have to find a place to rent during the week.
