why was my b permit renewed for 2 years?

I probably shouldn't question good things, but I've been very confused by the inconsistency of information I've gotten about permit procedures and as someone who almost obsessively wants to do things completely correctly, anything I don't expect or understand is stressful! Basically I was told that as a non-EU married to a Swiss, that I would renew my B-permit every year for 5 years at which point I would be eligible to apply for a C permit. I received my first B permit in November, and it was backdated to June (a month before I arrived in Switzerland). That was a bit weird but my initial permit was kind of messed up time-wise because we applied in my home embassy but the application was taken over by the canton when they found out I was here as a tourist in the interim waiting period (the embassy had told me I could come and I had a ticket to go back home, but once I was here, the canton told me to stay. It was a mess!). Anyway, that's not really the point and that was worked out. For my second permit, I renewed as instructed and just received my new one that doesn't expire for 2 years. Is this some sort of mistake? It doesn't make a difference in my life, but I was expecting 1 year. I could go to the office of population and ask them, but I was just wondering if anyone else had this experience. Maybe with married couples they are more generous with the permit lengths or they have some sort of discretion?

Maybe because you're married, you're considered less risk to Swiss male population so they let you stay a bit longer
