Change employer holding a non-EU B permit

Hi,

My situation is as follow:

For three years I hold a non-EU B permit to work at the University in Basel, and now I have received a job offer from the pharmaceutical industry in Zurrich.

Do you know if can I change my employer wit this non-EU B permit?

If yes,

Can I keep my residence in Basel and work in Zurich?

If not,

What ways I have to change employer? it is really impossible?

Thanks a lot for all the help

Re: Change employer holding a non-EU B permit

There has to be a REALLY good reason why the change should be allowed. Your propsective new employer will have to put their case to the Swiss authorities.

Re: Change employer holding a non-EU B permit

Pretty much the same as when you current employer hired you. Why they can't find a Swiss/EU national to do the job, why your qualifications/skills/experience are so much better than anyone else's, etc, etc. It's effectively a new application so they have to prove their case to be able to hire you. You can't just change jobs with a non-EU B permit unless it's an open one which is unlikely.

Re: Change employer holding a non-EU B permit

Check your credit card sized residence permit for your permit type. Back side of card, you can see if your permit is tied to your current employer or if its open.

If open, you can change the employer and you just have to share your new work contract with your commune or cantonal office. You can continue to live in Basel and work in Zurich. Please note, you will pay your taxes as per rates at Basel.

If closed, your new employer has to apply for a permit for you and they will have to prove why you and not someone from CH or EU territory? People say getting permit for non-eu now a days has become tough.

In any case, do not resign from your current job till you have clear picture of your permit and double check with Basel and Zurich cantonal office what is your situation and the process.
