Can a B-permit holder have two homes; in and out of Switzerland?

Hello All,

We have been living in Switzerland since July 2013, i.e. soon four years. We have always lived here on a B permit which is now extended until end of July 2019. We have a 3-year old daughter who was born in Switzerland in 2014.

Now we come to my story. My wife has got a PhD offer from a university in Milan. This means that she together with my daughter have to move to Milan at the end of this summer, but it is clear they will be visiting me quite often during the weekends. Additionally they will stay here during the entire summer/other holiday times (as it is going to remain their main home)

Here comes my question: Do we need to report it to our Gemeinde that my wife and daughter will be temporarily out of Switzerland? In this case, what will happen to their current B permits? We are not going to do something illegal, they will spend probably as much time in here as in Italy.

And yes, my concern is endangering our C permit application which we are planning to submit during the next summer when we have fulfilled the 5 year requirement on B.

Thanks

So long as they're not out of the country for more than 6 months at a time they should be okay. If longer than that, the permit becomes invalid.

You'll have to also maintain your current tax situation and pay for healthcare insurance, etc.....

Thanks for the reply!
They will definitely come and go much more often, however being registered in Italy (As they will need to have a flat, insurance, my daughter needs to go to kindergarten there etc etc) is not a reason for our Gemeinde in Switzerland to dismantle their B permits? even if we keep paying the healthcare, tax etc...

Yes, if you register in Italy (as you will need to do for your daughter's school), you need to deregister here.

Thanks!
And as I will be still here in Switzerland, working and paying tax etc for myself, you think I can still apply for C next year? or it is affected by the absence of my family?
I heard somewhere that C permit application should be for the entire family...
