I did it, but since the dates overlapped, permit got sent to my old address anyway:
- Day 1: Permit issued by migrationsamt and gets posted to kreisburo, not sure of when, but I guess the same day or next.
- Day 2: I move house, I register the move online
https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/prd/en/...mt/adress.html)
- Weekend passes and on work Day 4: Kreisburo sends permit to my
old address.
- Day 6 Permit delivered to old address. Lucky for me, my address had been registered as C/O (main renter), so the post staff left it in the box anyway.
I was in touch with the main renter and he let me know I had a letter, so... it worked out.
You can register the move online (link above) but I'm not even sure it matters since I called the old kreisburo 3 working days after the move & online registration, they said they hadn't received any info. I think it only became effective one I went to the new kreisburo and handed in my original (name escapes me, anmeldungsbestatigung?) and they gave me a new one with the new address. I already had my permit at this point, but they did NOT update the address on it, apparently they don't do that now?!
TIP: call migrationsamt office, I did and found out that my permit had been issued 2 days earlier! I also called my old kreisburo and they confirmed that they had posted the permit the day before to my old address. I was able to speak in English in both calls.
