Permit B Quarterly Quotas - Dates?

Hi All,

Thanks to all of the contributors on these threads. I've found it all really useful.

A quick question about the Permit B quarterly quotas. I understand that Switzerland (Zürich) offers a restricted number of Permit B visas. I read that these "quotas" are approved on a quarterly basis. I've also read that once the full quota of Permit B visas have been issued for that quarter, nothing further will be issued until the next quarter.

This may be a silly question but I don't want I make the assumption and get a nasty surprise.

Can anyone tell me if these quarters' start dates are standard yearly calendar? That is January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, October 1st.

PS: My employer will be handling all of this process for me but I'm trying to estimate some timeframes myself - so as to help my husband's and my planning.

Hope this is a quick one that someone may be able to answer without too much trouble.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Permit B Quarterly Quotas - Dates?

Yes they do. However, the Federal government holds a certain number of quota permits in reserve which can be released if needed.

If you're a non-EU national then only your employer can handle it for you as you can't apply for a permit yourself. If you're an EU national on the other hand then the employer doesn't get involved at all. You would just need to present your employment contract when applying for your permit and of course the quotas don't come into it either.

Re: Permit B Quarterly Quotas - Dates?

Brilliant! Thanks so much.

I'm non EU so I'll bear these dates in mind when the process is kick-started.

My employer is a Global Organisation (I'll be transferring from within the company) so I'm sure they'll be well versed in all the requirements, tips and tricks of getting it over the line.

Thanks again!
