Change of gemeinde

Hi EF'ers

Need some advise on the move we are planning to make.
We are planning to move from one gemeinde to another within Zurich canton.

Currently have B permit (8 years in same gemeinde/canton).

Will this move to another gemeinde within Zurich cause any delays or adverse effect on my eligibility for C permit?

thanks in advance

Re: Change of gemeinde

No, but would have an affect on any naturalisation plans due to the new gemeinde's residency requirements.

Re: Change of gemeinde

No... according to the current rules.
If you (and spouse and children?) are interested in a C permit now, or in naturalisation later, why would you risk re-setting your "Auslšnder"-clock?
Can you perhaps, at the very least, stick around in the Gemeinde you're in until you get a C?

For C permit no issue. I once moved from ZH to BE and still got my C after transferring. Keep,a copy of your permit to ensure your reference numbers ZEMIS and arrival date is maintained.

True, however in Kanton ZH the new Gemeinde was limited to extending the wait by 3 years beyond the other requirements for moves WITHIN the Kanton.

E.g. City of ZŻrich requires 2 years residence as long as the Federal requirement is met. In Kanton ZH there is no Kantonal limit, the Gemeinde limit applies which must be at least 2 years.

So, do you know the requirement in your new Gemeinde?

Re: Change of gemeinde

I'm sort off in the same situation and had to look this up as well for Zurich. Have lived exactly 3 years in Zollikon and now moving to Zurich for the next 2 years. I will have exactly 2 years in Zurich when applying for my C-permit. It makes moving tougher but with planning the bureaucracy is manageable.

Re: Change of gemeinde

thanks for the enlightening information and responses. For confirmation, checked with MigrationSamt (and posting here for the benefit of others) -> changing of gemeinde within kanton (at least valid for Zurich) does not effect C permit's eligibility criteria in any way. You just need to deregister from old and register in new gemeinde.
