Moving to another canton permit B (EU)

Hello,

I am currently living in canton vaud but I am going to start my new job in Zurich from 1st of July; the problem is my appartment contract in Zurich will be ready after 16th of July and I am going to live in airbnb for 2 weeks there.

My friend told me since my permit is B I have to deregister in Canton vaud and re-register your permit in canton Zurich within two weeks after your moving. So, I went to "Communes du canton de Vaud" and asked and they told me they need my job contract and my apartment contract in Zurich (which I don't have apartment contract!).

I would like to know that it would be a problem for me if I work in Zurich with my vaud permit and after two weeks when I got my appartment contract I deregister my permit in vaud and re-register it in Zurich?

Sorry for my long post and thanks in advance for your help,

PS. I still have my place in vaud. (till september)

Re: Moving to another canton permit B (EU)

You have to de-register and register in person, within 2 weeks of moving. These people really are a pain aren't they? Just wait until you have the 2 contracts and then do the business, you have until 14th July, so plenty of time.

Your employer has to give you a day off to visit the offices. Don't forget to cancel everything (electricity?) in Vaud in writing, and preferably on paper!

Re: Moving to another canton permit B (EU)

Check with Zurich how long you have to register. Often it's only 8 days if you move between cantons so make sure and don't assume it's 14.

I hope you're right about your rental contract. Seems a bit odd they haven't managed to get one to you yet and until the contract is signed there's no guarantee there'll be a property waiting for you at the end of it.
