L Permit to B Permit transition period - overseas travel?

I'm on the L Permit currently based on spousal reunion, and plan to get married in early October. My question is, after early October, will I be considered to hold the B Permit right away, even without getting it officially? How long does it normally take between the wedding day and the issuance of B Permit? And will I be able to travel overseas (for honeymoon, for example) during this period (e.g. in early November)?

One side question: After I get the B Permit, will I be on the same priority as EU citizens in the job market? (My fiance is a Swiss citizen.)

Thanks in advance.

Re: L Permit to B Permit transition period - overseas travel?

This isn't a question that can be answered by us. The competent authority (i.e. the immigration department of the canton you're living in) will be able to tell you whether they immediately issue a B permit at the moment of marriage.
I imagine the answer will be no, and I think you'll probably need to show your civil status certificate to the department for them to issue you a b permit.
Your right to remain in Switzerland, unless extended otherwise, is what it says on your permit (plus how ever many days if you're a visa exempted national). Within the validity of your l permit you'll still be able to enter the Schengen zone.

You can't travel without a valid permit and you may not get a B by the beginning of November. Check with the cantonal migration office to find out how soon after the wedding you can apply and whether you can get a document saying your new permit is being processed so you can travel while you wait for it to be issued. Don't make any travel plans until you know exactly what your permit status will be.

Thanks Medea. Do you think I'll be able to travel within the Schengen area after the wedding and before my L Permit expires (end of October)

So long as your permit is valid you'll be fine. But you must return before the expiry date.

Once you get your B permit you're on equal footing when it comes to hiring here in Switzerland. Bear in mind though that the permit has to be renewed every year, it's not a 5 year one.
