Student visa application in India
 

Hello,

I applied for a student visa from Swiss Embassy, Delhi, India for my son going to grade 9 in a boarding school in Geneva. I submitted my application on 24 July 2017. However school starts on 30 august 2017.
I got very late as the school formalities from their end got very delayed and I got my acceptance letter late. Then the embassy did not have an earlier date for visa application.
I have mentioned the same to the school and their lawyer is trying to speed up the process from their end.
I want to know what are my chances of getting the visa on time and how when will I be informed if my son has even got the visa as the embassy has not given me any tracking or reference number for my son's application.

I am very sure that there are many adequate points of contact from India

I doubt anyone can say for sure, applications take as long as they take. The embassy will notify you when they hear back from the Swiss authorities.

I got it in 4 days.
I was quite surprised as when my son submitted his papers on Monday at the embassy they told him it will take 8-12 weeks.
I mailed the school in Geneva if they could help speed up the process from their end. They hired a lawyer and on Friday of the same week I got a mail from school saying his visa was ready at the embassy to be picked up.
So the entire process from submitting his papers to get his visa on the passport took exactly a week
