Multi Entry Visa Valid only for CH

Hello,

The D Visa I received is a Multi Entry. However, it is mentioned that it is valid only for CH. My previous Schengen Visa was valid for "Schengen States". Now I doubt if this D Suisse Visa allows me to travel to Zurich via Germany or the Netherlands where I will have my immigration check being a Non-EU. Can someone clarify?

Thanks!

Re: Multi Entry Visa Valid only for CH

You don't need a multi-entry visa. Once you get your Swiss permit it takes the place of any visa for travel purposes within the Shengen Area.

But from the sounds of it, no you can't enter Schengen with that visa other than directly into Switzerland. Adjust your travel plan accordingly.

In fact you can. Look here for the "I have a Type D visa containing an entry saying "Suisse". Does this visa authorise me to travel around in the Schengen area?" entry.

That answer is a bit vague in only saying that you can travel within Schengen with this visa and nothing about crossing the Schengen border, but I can confirm from personal experience that you won't have any problems at the border. Last time I checked this personally was this April when my permit was stolen in Hong Kong and I had to get a visa at the Swiss consulate there as I'm non-EU. I was flying back through Stockholm and had absolutely zero problems crossing the border in Sweden.

The "valid only for CH" for a D visa means that you can only stay long-term in Switzerland and not in any other Schengen state.
