C permit rules for non EU other than Zurich canton

Hello all,

For non-EU, from B to C permit... I learnt that I need B1 level German in Zurich canton..

Is it same across other cantons? (in German speaking part)? Or are they relaxed to say A2 level is fine etc

Ie, staying in Zurich canton, am I making it tough for myself with C permit?

By the way, I am eligible to apply for C, just struggling with language level expected to submit papers... If it is easier in other cantons, may be worth thinking... also any min stay expected in that canton?

Different cantons have different rules, requirements and procedures.

Try Aargau. Five years and A2, no minimum stay expected

In all honesty, the jump from A2 to B1 is not that hard. My friend just did that for her C permit in Zürich. In the long run, if you invest some more time now and improve the language, it will only be beneficial for you, if you plan to stay here that is.

Try Migors Klubschule and if you can invest more cash, then I would recommend ZHAW.

Re: C permit rules for non EU other than Zurich canton

To obtain a C permit under the ordinary process in Ct. Zurich, A2 German is required, according to para. 4.2.1 of this Ct. Zurich C permit regulations document:

"Zertifikat, das der Ausländerin / dem Ausländer bescheinigt, die deutsche Sprache in Niveau A2 (schriftlich und mündlich) zu beherrschen."

To obtain a C permit under the "early" process in Ct. Zurich, B1 German is required, according to para. 5.2:

"Zertifikat, das dem Ausländer bescheinigt, die deutsche Sprache in Niveau B1 (schriftlich und mündlich) zu beherrschen "

The following language certificates are accepted:

"Die akzeptierten Sprachzertifikate sind das TELC, Goethe, ÖSD und TestDaF-Zertifikat."

You might find it helpful to read through this thread:
Early C Permit for a Non-EU National through VINTA

Your questions have been asked (and answered) many times, so although you might be a bit confused, at least you're not alone.
