Resident permit non EU I will start my PhD at a university in Geneva (no work contract but on tax free grant) but I will be living in Lausanne since all my first year courses are at EPFL. I have found an accommodation in Lausanne and hence I am wondering whether I should apply for resident permit in canton of Vaud or in canton of Geneva. I read some of the previous threads about this but couldn't find a definitive answer. Any thoughts on pros and cons of applying in Vaud as opposed to applying in Geneve (if at all it is allowed)? Thank you. |
Re: Resident permit non EU Hello, I believe you have to register in Lausanne. You need to show proof of address for registration and the Geneva office won't take your Lausanne address. If in Lausanne they find this strange (PhD program in Geneva but address in Lausanne), maybe you can show some documents that proof you are taking classes at EPFL. |
Re: Resident permit non EU Thank you for the response. Yes, taking classes in different uni is strange but this is a norm in my program (since past 5 years) so I hope that my case is not seen as strange by the authorities. I will obtain a letter from the school as suggested. Quote:
