Aussies can get permit C after 5 years

Hi,

I'm sorry if this has been posted before. I did a search but couldn't find anything.

A swiss colleague just told me that Australia and Japan have just joined US and Canada in their zones, and this probably means that Aussies can now get their permits after 5 years.

Does anyone have any info on this? I did a google search but couldn't quite find anything "official" even about US and Canada being able to get a C after 5.

Any pointers, websites would be great.

If any Aussies did get C after 5 years, please let me know how.

Thanks heaps,
~ Nanda.

I got one, but only because my better half is Swiss.

According to the BFM , it is still only USA and Canada that have special rights.

It is true that Switzerland is negotiating and partially has negotiated bilateral agreements with several 1st world nations. The exact implications of these will be announced at some point in the future but there will need to be a law change which currently has not yet been implemented hence you need to wait for a while probably until mid next year. Thereafter the official time limit will probably reduce...

Re: Aussies can get permit C after 5 years

I just got directed to these links by an Aussie who got her C permit after 5.5 years:

http://www.weisungen.bfm.admin.ch/re...rs_vinta_d.pdf
http://www.weisungen.bfm.admin.ch/re...riterien_d.pdf

My german isn't that good, but it seemed from the first link that anyone can get a C now after 5 years provided you show that you have integrated.

Did I read this correctly?

Thanks,
~ nanda.

Those links don't work. Can you please repost them?

that's right, and it's been like this for a few years already.
usually you have to prove that you know the language (at the basic level), have no criminal record and do not depend on public funds.
