Getting a permit without an address (by one day)

Hi all,

I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with.

I am starting a job in Zurich on the 30th November, but my apartment start date only starts 1st December in Zug. I'll be staying with friends for a night.

My problem is, I'm not sure where to register with the gemeinde now. Of course I'd say Zug, but if i take my work contract, and the rental agreement to the Zug Gemeinde, there is one days difference. I'm slightly confused on what to do here.

Is it usual to give some leeway? or will they just issue it? Or should i stay in a hotel in Zug for the night to save any complications? Really not sure.

Let me know your thoughts

David

I really don't think they will be bothered about 1 day, Swiss bureaucracy is pedantic, but I reckon even they will understand that your rent will start at the beginning of the month.

Did that when I arrived here, had my rental contract with a start a couple of days later, no issue.

That was incredibly fast. Thanks guys. (I'd "thank" you but I'm new and I'm not sure how)

So long as you have a rental agreement it'll be fine. More important to register before you start work so try and do that the day before (29th) if you can or first thing before you go to work on the 30th.

You need 10 posts before the thanks and groan buttons will appear.
