Re: work in medical field

As a doctor you'd need to get your qualifications recognised by this organisation:

Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH)
MEBEKO
CH-3003 Bern
T +41 58 462 94 83
www.bag.admin.ch
MEBEKO-Ausbildung@bag.admin.ch

Not sure if just doing anathesia you'd need to, but they can tell you.

The other thing which you will need is fluency in a Swiss language - which would be German for your part of the country. Without that you simply can't practice here in either capacity. Minimum requirement is level B2, preferably higher.

Re: work in medical field

Hi Ooody
Welcome to the Forum.
You are not alone! Others have found themselves in the same position, with qualifications from outside Switzerland.

Here are three threads on this forum which might help you:
https://www.englishforum.ch/introduc...-lausanne.html
https://www.englishforum.ch/employme...itzerland.html
which latter refers to
https://www.englishforum.ch/educatio...eu-degree.html.

At the top right-hand corner of your screen you will see the "search" function. You can also choose to use the "advanced" search. Also, if you scroll right down, you will see that the software automatically suggests other "similar" threads... and sometimes it gets it right.

In any event, the biggest single thing you can do to get closer to being able to work as a doctor, in Switzerland, is to learn the local language. Wish you well as you get started, and settle in here!
